28. November 2022
November 28, 2022, Düsseldorf – Deutsche Glasfaser and Vodafone have agreed a wholesale cooperation deal that will run for at least ten years. The agreement offers Vodafone nationwide access to Deutsche Glasfaser’s FTTH network.
Deutsche Glasfaser is committed to an open-access network strategy. Third-party access to Deutsche Glasfaser’s network promotes efficient fiber-optic expansion, fair competition for services and offerings, and responsible use of resources. Open-Access fosters FTTH customers´ freedom of choice between different providers and service bundles. The network therefore will be more penetrated and its economic return increases.
From autumn 2023, Vodafone will have access to Deutsche Glasfaser’s network under the wholesale agreement. Vodafone will thus be able to market FTTH services to six million additional households over the long term.
Andreas Pfisterer, CEO of Deutsche Glasfaser group:
“We are delighted that Vodafone is relying on our fast-growing fiber optic network in rural and suburban areas. Everyone benefits from open access: fiber customers in rural areas have freedom of choice. And we as a company are getting closer to our goal of supplying the regions with fiber optics quickly and comprehensively via such wholesale partnerships.
We offer all telecommunications providers the opportunity to use our FTTH infrastructure to expand their range of services. That way, we promote fair competition among offerings and services in the market and push an efficient roll-out of optical fiber in Germany.”
